United States immigration rules permit an Urdu to English Nikahnama translation to be prepared outside the United States. The important requirement is the translator’s certification of accuracy, completeness and competence.

1. Full English Translation: Any foreign-language document submitted under the applicable U.S. immigration rule must be accompanied by a full English translation.
2. Complete and Accurate Certification: The translator must certify that the English translation is complete and accurate.
3. Translator Competence: The certification must state that the translator is competent to translate from Urdu into English.
4. Signed Translator Certification: For NVC immigrant-visa processing, the certification should be signed by the translator and state both that the translation is accurate and that the translator is competent to translate it.

1. Identify the Country and Authority First: A translation suitable for one European country may not satisfy another country’s civil registry, immigration office, court or embassy.
2. Check the Required Translation Language: Some authorities accept an English translation; others require translation into their national language.
3. Check Whether an Official or Sworn Translator Is Required: Some countries or procedures require a sworn, court-recognised or officially recognised translator in that country. Others accept an English translation prepared abroad.
